One week ago, the prospect that the Boston Celtics could take Joel Embiid with the No. 6 overall pick in the NBA draft wasn’t even on the table. But Embiid suffered a foot fracture and had surgery Friday, and now the former potential No. 1 pick might fall enough in the draft that the Celtics could nab him Thursday night.
Embiid’s medical information has been made available to a limited number of NBA teams, and the Celtics are one of those with access.
The Kansas center will be out for four to six months following his surgery, and Embiid reportedly is “highly unlikely” to slip past the Celtics at No. 6.
