John Farrell: Felix Doubront Is ‘Much Improved,’ Ready To Start Friday (Video)

Left-handed starter Felix Doubront will be activated from the 15-day disabled list on Friday and start for the Boston Red Sox in their second game of a four-game series against the Oakland Athletics.

Doubront went on the disabled list on May 21 with a strained left shoulder. In his last start with Triple-A Pawtucket on Sunday, he struck out 10 batters and allowed no hits in five innings.

The 26-year-old will start in the place of Brandon Workman, who is serving a six-game suspension for throwing near the head of Tampa Bay Rays third baseman Evan Longoria on May 30.

Doubront and Red Sox manager John Farrell discuss the 26-year-old’s return to the rotation in the video above.
