Pedro Martinez and Roger Clemens went head-to-head on May 28, 2000, and both lasted nine full innings at Yankee Stadium.
One swing accounted for the entire game’s run total, as Trot Nixon blasted a two-run home run off Clemens in the ninth to propel the Boston Red Sox to a 2-0 win over the New York Yankees.
Martinez gave up only four hits while striking out nine in the win, lowering his ERA to 1.05 for the season. Clemens gave up five hits and two runs while striking out 13 in a losing effort. Neither starter walked a batter throughout the night.
