Boston Red Sox infielder Xander Bogaerts had just three days off on the season before he started slumping. He had been deserving of all that playing time, but he hit an 0-for-16 skid in his four games before the Red Sox’s contest against the Cleveland Indians on Thursday night.
Perhaps it was the transition from shortstop to third base on his mind, but for whatever reason, Bogaerts just didn’t seem to be in the zone. Red Sox manager John Farrell gave him Thursday off, simply to relax and collect his thoughts.
Bogaerts was put back in the lineup Friday, and hopefully, the off day did him some good.
