Boston Red Sox starting pitcher Jon Lester is known for his deadly cutter, but it was his curveball that shut down the Chicago White Sox on Thursday.
Lester pitched seven innings of one-run ball, striking out 12 batters and walking no one. It was his sixth consecutive quality start and showed how all three of his pitches have shut down batters.
Many believe Lester should be the American League’s starting pitcher in Tuesday’s MLB All-Star Game in Minneapolis. But Boston’s John Farrell, who’s the American League manager, might be reluctant to use his own team’s biggest weapon.
