FOXBORO, Mass. — All Brandon LaFell and Danny Amendola needed was a little outside competition for them to break out in New England Patriots training camp.
The two Patriots wide receivers have shined since last week, when joint practices against the Washington Redskins started up. Amendola is playing his best football this week with the Philadelphia Eagles in town, while LaFell continues to see more reps with Tom Brady as he fights for the starting “X” receiver role.
Brady had some positive things to say about LaFell’s performance after practice Wednesday, commenting that the receiver is continuing to make more big plays on the Gillette Stadium practice field. LaFell is battling second-year pros Aaron Dobson and Kenbrell Thompkins for the starting role, and it appears he might have the upper hand as the Patriots head into their second preseason game Friday night.
