The Boston Red Sox are showing even more of a reliance on their young guys after Thursday’s trade deadline madness.
Outfielder Mookie Betts, pitcher Anthony Ranaudo and third baseman Will Middlebrooks were all called up from Triple-A Pawtucket and started Friday’s game against the New York Yankees. And although they’re being given big league responsibilities, Betts assured NESN’s Gary Striewski that they’re all just going to take things one day at a time.
“We don’t look at it like that,” Betts said when asked if this season would be like a tryout for next year. “We look at it — day to day we’re going out here and playing today, and we’re going to do our best today and tomorrow the same thing.”
