The New England Patriots acquired tight end Tim Wright on Tuesday in a trade that sent Logan Mankins to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Wright, a Rutgers product, brings a unique tight end skill set to the Patriots, even as one of the smallest at that position in the NFL.
While Pats tight end Rob Gronkowski might not start the team’s season-opener, that doesn’t mean Wright was brought in as a replacement. The Boston Globe’s Shalise Manza Young has more in the video above on what the signing means.
