It’s far too early to know just what the Boston Celtics have in Jaylen Brown, but the small sample size has been encouraging.
Through six preseason games, Brown has averaged just under 10 points while shooting 44 percent from the field. But even more impressive than his stats has been the athleticism he’s shown, which already has created a few highlight-reel plays.
“I like his progress, I like what he’s done thus far,” Celtics coach Brad Stevens said Tuesday, as aired on “NESN Live,” presented by Cross Insurance. “I think we’ve thrown him into the fire a little bit at two positions, but ultimately that’s how we have to move forward. And hey, there’s going to be some growing pains with some of these young guys — you have to understand that. But if you bring something to the table that helps our team win, that’s what we have to consider first and foremost.”
