Tom Brady’s words carry weight in Massachusetts. A lot of weight.

Just ask Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump, who told The New York Times on Wednesday that the New England Patriots quarterback was an “enormous help” toward his overwhelming victory in Tuesday’s Massachusetts primary.

“Honestly, in that part of the world, a reference like Tom Brady saying Trump’s the biggest winner, Trump is a friend of mine, that makes an incredible difference,” Trump said. “Tom Brady is a great friend of mine. He’s a winner, and he likes winners. He was very helpful to us in Massachusetts on Tuesday.”

Trump received 49 percent of the vote in Massachusetts on Super Tuesday, blowing away the next-closest Republican candidate, John Kasich, who received 18 percent of the vote.

It’s impossible to tell how much of an impact Brady’s kind words toward Trump had on those numbers, especially since he’s never officially endorsed the man. But hey, the compliments certainly didn’t hurt.

Perhaps the other candidates should have wooed TB12.
