Justin Masterson was a causality of the trade deadline on Friday, as he was sent to the Indians in the deal that brings Victor Martinez to the Red Sox. But speaking with Heidi Watney, Masterson thanked the Red Sox for the opportunity to play with the club before he continues his career with a new team.
Masterson, 24, was drafted by the Red Sox in the second round of the 2006 draft. He pitched two-plus seasons in the minors before getting the call to the majors. Masterson spent the last two seasons with the Red Sox, going 9-8 with a 3.76 as both a starter and reliever.
