After all the speculation, it appears that Glen Davis will end up right back where he started.

The Celtics forward, who has spent the past two months tearing his way through the NBA rumor mill, is close to signing a new deal with the Celtics, according to Yahoo Sports. He will reportedly sign a new two-year deal sometime next week.

Big Baby, who has spent two years with the Celtics, was in the market for a mid-level exception offer but never got one. Yahoo Sports claims that several teams, including Detroit, New Orleans and New Jersey, talked with general manager Danny Ainge about sign-and-trade scenarios, but none of those worked out because Ainge never wanted to let him go to begin with.

Davis, 23, established himself during the 2008-09 playoffs when Kevin Garnett went down with a knee injury. During Boston's postseason run, he averaged 15.8 points and 5.6 rebounds in 36 minutes per game.

If he does indeed sign with Boston, Davis will join a rejuvenated frontcourt that features newcomers Rasheed Wallace and Shelden Williams.
