The game on Sunday might be remembered as the day that Manny Ramirez tried to score on a 200-foot pop-up, but the Dodgers are hoping it becomes just that — a distant memory.
Manager Joe Torre held a closed-door meeting after the game, according to The Los Angeles Times.
“What I try to do is just talk about perspective,” Torre told the Times. “Sometimes you’re involved in the competition and you sort of lose perspective of where you are. I just want to give them my perspective. We really haven’t played well here for a period of time and we’re still controlling our own destiny.”
Despite their recent slide, the Dodgers still have a 5 1/2-game lead in the National League West over the Giants, who will host the Dodgers for a three-game set on Monday.
