The Patriots added some depth to their defense and practice squad by signing linebacker Bruce Davis to their practice squad on Wednesday, The Boston Globe reports.
Davis, a third-round pick of the Steelers in 2008, played five games for the Steelers last season before being released by the team during the final roster cuts before this season.
"It's kind of like being a freshman in college again. You got to start
over," Davis told the Globe. "You got to start from the bottom and at this point I'm
willing to do whatever it takes. Do what you got to do at this point,
and when you're sitting at home and you're wondering whether you're
ever going to play again it really changes your perspective on the game
and how much you love the game and what you're willing to do to get
back in the game. At this point, I don't care what they ask me to do.
I'll go wash the windows if I have to. I'm just happy to be back."
Davis replaces the spot previously occupied by linebacker Prescott Burgess, who was taken from the Patriots practice squad by the Ravens on Monday.
