After fans had trouble wondering who was playing where in Wednesday night's loss to the Blue Jays, Red Sox manager Terry Francona has penciled in a more "regular" lineup for Thursday night's tilt with the Indians.
After David Ortiz and Alex Gonzalez were Wednesday's only regulars, everyone except for J.D. Drew — who is nursing a sore shoulder — is back in the lineup. Joey Gathright will be filling in for Drew in right and batting eighth in the lineup.
Mike Lowell, who received a hip injection earlier this week, it back at the hot corner to test things out for the playoffs.
Catching starter Jon Lester will be Victor Martinez. Jason Varitek will be sitting for the fourth consecutive day and has only appeared in four of the 13 Red Sox games since Sept. 17 against the Angels.
Below is Boston's starting lineup for Thursday night:
CF Ellsbury
2B Pedroia
C Martinez
1B Youkilis
DH Ortiz
LF Bay
3B Lowell
RF Gathwright
SS Gonzalez
P Jon Lester
