Merrimack Warriors Getting Boost From Home Crowd

Merrimack Warriors Getting Boost From Home CrowdAs a surprise to most Hockey East followers, the Merrimack Warriors finished the first half of the season as the conference’s toughest team to play at home.

They were nearly perfect with a 7-1 record at Lawler Arena, losing their first home game to UNH by a final score of 5-4 back on Nov. 28.

The Warriors’ recent home-ice success has been drawing crowds that the school and the players have not been used to, as Merrimack had two back-to-back sell outs in November. It was the school’s first sellout in 121 home games, dating back to February 2002.

For this week’s Ice Chips, we hit the road to North Andover, Mass., to see what makes Lawler Arena so special.
