Adult film star Samantha Ryan had one of the best seats in the house for Wednesday's Kansas-Kansas State basketball game, thanks to Kansas assistant coach Kurtis Townsend.
What started as a kind gesture has taken on a life of its own.
Townsend met Ryan, a former Kansas student, on a flight from Los Angeles to Kansas City in December.
"I had no idea she was a porn star," Townsend told The Kansas City Star. "She was Jamie [Doe], a former KU student who said she was a big fan of the Jayhawks. We talked on the flight. I was just being nice and gave her my card and told her to call me if she ever wanted to go to a game. I've never seen her since. I wouldn't know what she looked like. I didn't see her at the game."
According to media reports, Townsend gave the former Kansas student a front-row ticket for the Big 12 matchup as a birthday gift. When Ryan saw her Jayhawks were scheduled to play their instate rivals on her 22nd birthday, she had to attend the game.
"After seeing that KU was playing rival KSU on my b-day, I had to ask for tix," Ryan told KY3 News. "Who wouldn't?"
Ryan expressed her appreciation via Twitter.
"Big thanks you know who for getting me the tix Coach T," Ryan said via Twitter. "Best birthday present ever."
Townsend may not have known who Ryan was a few months ago. Now, the married father of five will never forget.
