“It’s unique to finish up a game and start a new one,” Youkilis told McCarthy of the 7:10 p.m. start that will see the Sox head to the plate against the Tampa Bay Rays with a 1-1 score in the bottom of the ninth inning. Following the conclusion, the Red Sox and Rays will play the second game of the series.
Youkilis spoke about the recent weather, saying the Red Sox have simply grown used to all the rain and cold that sweeps New England in April, although they would certainly prefer warm weather.
“Last year was a tough year with all the rain and being cold,” Youkilis noted. “Hopefully, this is just a little bit of the cold that comes through and the rest of the year is nice weather.”
