Patrice Bergeron Game-Winner Paces Bruins in Victory Over Sabres The Boston Bruins took a 2-1 series lead over the Buffalo Sabres by pulling out a 2-1 win Monday night at the TD Garden.

Key to the victory was Patrice Bergeron, who took a Mark Recchi feed and blasted it past Ryan Miller into the Sabres goal.

“[Recchi] always wants to win every battle,” Bergeron said of the winger who squared off against Tim Kennedy. “As soon as he got it, I tried to stay open in that slot for a quick shot.”

The shot turned into the game-deciding goal, and coach Claude Julien was pleased with his team’s effort.

“Our guys don’t panic. … All these guys are used to being in these situations [and] being able to handle the pressure is extremely important,” he said.
