The 1994 champion, Hall of Famer and retired Rangers defenseman stopped by Tuesday’s edition of SportsDesk to chat about what the Bruins need to do to take care of the Flyers, once and for all.
“I think for sure the Bruins have to be disappointed with the second half of that game [which they lost 4-0 on Monday night],” Leetch told NESN’s Jade McCarthy. “I think they were excited to be at home, to play a clinching game — I think the attitude of the team right now is one of looking back and saying, ‘OK, we let one go, let’s get back at it, let’s refocus and make a couple of adjustments.'”
Despite the fact that Boston went up three games to none in the series, Leetch is not at all surprised that the Flyers were able to come back in Games 4 and 5 and post W’s.
“As for the score of the series being 3-2, I don’t think anyone should be too surprised at that,” he said. “Two even teams played six months over the year and a couple points separated them coming down the stretch. Sure, the Bruins had chances to close it out, but besides the second half of that game [on Monday night], there haven’t been a lot of surprises in this series.”
