Red Sox Nation Wants to See Nomar Garciaparra in Hall of Fame

Red Sox Nation Wants to See Nomar Garciaparra in Hall of Fame His departure from Boston was anything but happy, but that didn’t hinder the smiles at Fenway Park on Wednesday night.

Nomar Garciaparra returned to Boston for a ceremony in his honor and was reunited with former teammates such as Trot Nixon, Brian Daubach and Jason Varitek. The fans welcomed him in full force, and it figures — they think he is one of the best of all time.

Wednesday’s kgb Poll Question asked whether Garciaparra belongs in the Hall of Fame, and the vote wasn’t even close. Eighty-four percent of fans believe the former All-Star shortstop should be immortalized in baseball history, while only 16 percent think he could have proven himself more.

Whether or not he makes it into the Hall, though, the former Red Sox legend’s memories of his time in Boston remain picture perfect.

“I was very fortunate to have experienced great things in this uniform,” Garciaparra said before the game. “I’m just writing new chapters. The Red Sox chapter keeps getting written. I retired as a Boston Red Sox. It never leaves you, and it’s always been one of the biggest parts of my heart. This organization and this uniform will stay with me forever.”

There’s still time for you to vote.
