Selected off waivers from the Carolina Hurricanes, the goaltender posted a 16-5-2 before suffering a severe ankle sprain in March. He returned on Monday night, when he immediately had to fill in for an injured Brian Boucher.
“I would think he’s thrilled to get a start tonight,” said Flyers coach Peter Laviolette.
Coach Claude Julien was more interested in the Bruins’ production.
“I think it’s important to get some shots, get some momentum early,” he said. “You know [the Flyers] want to certainly send a message, but we will be ready to push back.”
