Bill Hall Playing Well In Place of Dustin Pedroia So far, so good for Bill Hall in his attempt to pick up Dustin Pedroia’s slack.

Hall, filling in for the All-Star second baseman Pedroia since he went on the 15-day disabled list with a broken foot, homered in the opener of a two-game series with the Rays. The Red Sox took the opener 8-5.

NESN’s Heidi Watney caught up with Hall following the game and talked about how the Red Sox continue to pick each other up in spite of the constant barrage of injuries the team has faced.

“Guys have to step up and that’s what we did today,” Hall said after the game. “If we sit back and think about those injuries, we’re not going to play good baseball. Guys stepped up and continued to play the way we’ve been playing for awhile.”

“It just goes to show how good this can be,” he added. “Every single day it’s somebody different. If you do that all year, you’re going to have a really good end of the season.”
