UCLA’s Tyler Rahmatulla to Miss College World Series Due to Celebration Injury

Just three weeks (and fewer than 50 miles away) after Angels slugger Kendry Morales snapped his leg celebrating a walk-off grand slam for the Halos, UCLA second baseman and No. 3 hitter Tyler Rahmatulla broke his wrist celebrating with his Bruins teammates after they topped Cal State-Fullerton in the Los Angeles Super Regionals over the weekend.

The sophomore Rahmatulla pulled a "Morales" in the postgame pileup, where he sustained a broken wrist. The slugger is hitting .328 with seven home runs and 45 RBIs, but will be unable to play in the College World Series — the club's first CWS berth since 1997.

"You tell players not to get excited after something like that, but it's a tough position to be in," UCLA head coach John Savage told The Los Angeles Times. "You think of the Kendry Morales thing and it makes you sick. We lost one of our best players and we didn't have to."
