Blue Jays Shortstop Alex Gonzalez Continues to Post Surprising Offensive Numbers

Blue Jays Shortstop Alex Gonzalez Continues to Post Surprising Offensive Numbers Blue Jays shortstop Alex Gonzalez has always been known for his dazzling defense up the middle, but it’s his offensive clout that’s opening eyes through the first half of the 2010 season.

Gonzalez hit his 17th home run Saturday against the Red Sox in the Blue Jays’ 9-5 win at Rogers Centre. Gonzalez’ 17 dingers ranks him third on a Blue Jays team that leads the major leagues in home runs.

“The guys are just being agressive at home plate and that’s why you’ve got a lot of doubles and extra bases,” Gonzalez explained to NESN’s Heidi Watney.

Check out the video below for more of Heidi’s interview with the former Red Sox shortstop on W.B. Mason’s Red Sox Extra Innings.
