Manny Delcarmen Activated from Portland, Boston Makes More Roster Changes After suffering back-to-back losses to the Texas Rangers, the Red Sox reached to their minor league affiliates to bring back rehabilitated players, officially making the call to activate relief pitcher, Manny Delcarmen from Double-A Portland for Saturday’s match-up.

Delcarmen saw just one appearance with the Sea Dogs on Thursday. He was placed on the 15-day DL with a right forearm strain on July 1. The Red Sox can definitely use his rehabbed arm back in the bullpen, as it is one of the team’s current weak areas.

During Friday’s edition of Red Sox Extra Innings, NESN’s Peter Gammons also speculated that infielder Jed Lowrie could be returning to the roster, as he has done well during his rehab assignment in Pawtucket. Jim Rice joined in the commentary, joking that he was going to come out of retirement to help the sliding Sox.
