Robinson Cano Expected to Lead AL in Batting The Red Sox have gotten incredible offensive production from Adrian Beltre, but Red Sox fans either don’t expect it to keep up, or they’re actually quite impressed with what the Yankees’ Robinson Cano has been able to do this season.

Saturday’s kgb Poll Question of the Day asked fans who they thought would win the AL Batting crown. Cano won the poll with 50 percent, with Beltre coming in second with 33 percent and Twins’ first baseman Justin Morneau rounding it out with 17 percent of the vote.

Cano leads the league with a .347 average, but Hall of Famer Peter Gammons thought that with the way Beltre is playing and the way fans have come to adore him, that he’d be the one to get the most votes.

“At this point, the way Beltre is playing, and the way the fans love him, I thought you could up him up there running for Senate and he’d win that,” Gammons joked on W.B. Mason’s Red Sox Extra Innings.

NESN’s Tom Caron revealed the results.
