FOXBORO, Mass. — Vince Wilfork understands what Logan Mankins is going through, even if the two Patriots handled their situations in entirely different ways.

Wilfork entered the final season of his rookie contract in 2009, briefly broadcasted his displeasure and moved on in a businesslike manner. Mankins, on the other hand, publicly demanded a trade this offseason and continued his holdout Thursday when he skipped the first day of training camp.

Wilfork addressed Mankins' situation.

"I've been there, and it's tough on him," Wilfork said. "I miss him out here. Like I said, I'll back him up 110 percent. I see this guy every day. I see this dude work. I see what type of person he is, but business is business. You have to respect both sides. I'll leave it at that. He is a great athlete, a great player, but business is business. You have to let business take care of itself."
