The Red Sox are trying desperately to stay in the AL playoff race, but it hasn’t been easy. If they’ve got one more push left in them, it will likely begin this week when they regain one of their leaders and best players in Dustin Pedroia.
Pedroia has been out since June with a broken foot, but the long road to returning to the majors looks to be coming to an end as the All-Star second baseman is set to start a rehab assignment this weekend in Pawtucket before being activated when the Red Sox return home for a homestand early this week.
The Boston Globe’s Peter Abraham talked about what the return of Pedroia will mean to the Red Sox both on the field and in the clubhouse on Saturday’s Red Sox GameDay Live.
