Peter Gammons: Josh Beckett Showing Signs of Improvement Recently

Peter Gammons: Josh Beckett Showing Signs of Improvement Recently Outside of two starts against the lowly Mariners and Indians, it's been a pretty rough go for Red Sox pitcher Josh Beckett since he's returned from the disabled list.

However, according to Hall of Famer Peter Gammons, the Red Sox might be close to seeing the Beckett they're expecting to see.

"His curveball is getting better, his changeup's getting better and he's just made a lot of mistakes and they're not swinging at his fastball," Gammons said of Beckett who enters his start Wednesday with a 3-2 record and a 6.51 ERA. "I also talked to [Red Sox pitching coach] John Farrell and he really thinks that he's getting close to getting back to those basics, back to moving the ball around the plate, using his fastball around the plate and not making the mistakes that he's made."
