When it comes to the Red Sox this season, Adrian Beltre has been the obvious offensive hero. The third baseman has tallied big hit after big hit, driving in key runs that have truly made the difference this season. However, on Wednesday night against the Blue Jays, Boston spread the offense throughout the lineup, smacking four home runs in the 10-1 victory.
Beltre hit one of those homers in the win over Toronto, but the entire lineup contributed to the flurry of Boston hits. Red Sox manager Terry Francona was extremely pleased that the pressure was taken off Beltre for the night. He spoke with NESN's Heidi Watney about the consistent offense during W.B. Mason's Red Sox Extra Innings.
"We needed a game where we — not really to take a deep breath– but just where we spread it out a little bit. We've got Beltre, he never gets an inning or two off, so that should help."
Watch Francona's full interview below, where he also discusses Clay Buchholz's amazing eight-inning effort.
