Ron Washington Helping Rangers Run Away With AL West One of the biggest surprises of this baseball season has been the newly found success of the Texas Rangers. A lack of pitching has held the Rangers back in recent years, but so far this year, the Rangers have put all three aspects of the game together and they're building quite a lead in the AL West.

The Rangers sit atop the division with 65-48 record heading into Friday's night series opener with the Red Sox. Texas owns an 11-game lead over the Angels in the division.

Manager Ron Washington is pleased with his team's performance, but acknowledged that he hasn't really had a chance to stop and think about what the reason for his team's success has been.

"We haven't had a chance to think about that," he told Heidi Watney on Red Sox GameDay Live. "We haven't had a chance to think about where we are right now because where we are right now doesn't matter when October's over."

Be sure to check out the video below for more from Washington as he discusses his team's tough schedule as of late along with how his team copes with the grueling conditions that come with playing in Texas in August.
