Larry Lucchino Thanks Red Sox Fans for Loyalty Through Difficult Year You can say a lot of things about Red Sox fans, but their most definitive characteristic is the passion they have for the team.

This season has definitely been one filled with adversity where the Red Sox seemed to face a new devastating injury every week. Through all the ups and downs, the Fenway faithful have stuck it out, and there's no one more appreciative of the fan's devotion than the Red Sox' front office.

Red Sox CEO Larry Lucchino stopped in during Friday night's rain delay to personally thank the fans, and to preview the upcoming events for the final weekend of the Red Sox' regular season. Sunday's final game against the Yankees will serve as "Fan Appreciation Day" where fans will receive a once in a lifetime opportunity to run the bases at Fenway Park.

"Normally this is an activity reserved for the kids," Lucchino said. "But on Sunday we're letting anyone who wants to run the bases at Fenway Park."
