Free agent Adrian Beltre is one popular guy.
The third baseman is supposedly fielding offers from several teams, including the Red Sox, A’s, Angels, Orioles and Rangers, according to the USA Today.
Meanwhile, Sports Illustrated writer Jon Heyman tweeted on Tuesday that up to a dozen teams may be looking into adding Beltre.
Beltre and his agent, Scott Boras, are likely looking for a long-term contract, which the Red Sox are probably uncomfortable giving. The Boston Globe reported earlier this week that the Sox would offer no more than four years at $52 million.
The A’s, however, are thought to have already offered Beltre $64 million over five years, the USA Today said. Oakland had tried to get Beltre last offseason, but he signed a one-year, $9 million deal with the Sox in January.
