The five-on-five brawl between the Bruins and the Thrashers last week sparked an age-old debate in the sports world, questioning whether brawls are good for the NHL.
According to this week’s crew on The Instigators, these kinds of brawls are great for hockey, because it was the perfect display of teammates standing up for one another. Self policing is a part of the game, and Andrew Ference did the right thing in defending Milan Lucic after Freddy Meyer‘s high hit in the third.
Former Bruins tough guy Lyndon Byers took it one step further, as he believes the league should do away with the instigator penalty and let players police on their own.
