Even after submitting a transfer request, the future of Blackpool midfielder Charlie Adam remains unclear.

Thetelegraph.co.uk reports that Blackpool manager Ian Holloway is not hiding his disappointment in the offers made by other teams for his captain, particularly Liverpool, claiming that Adam is worth at least £14 million ($22.4 million). Liverpool's initial offer for him was £4 million ($6.4 million).

Holloway told Anfield manager Kenny Dalglish that if the offer is not increased by a significant amount, they could be out of the running for Adam.

"If they want to sign our best player, they have got to realize they cannot just pussyfoot around with it," he said. "They either go for it seriously or try to buy him in the summer. They should have started at least four times higher. Put a one in front of it [the £4 million bid] and it might be realistic."

Holloway admitted that he hopes the deal with Liverpool goes through, for the sake of his player. He said Adam would be a good replacement for former Liverpool midfielder Xabi Alonso.

"If the player is good enough, then sign him and that's what they should do," he said. "Put up or shut up, it's as simple as that."

Unfortunately for Holloway, the fate of Adam and his market value are not up to him and have fallen in the hands of Blackpool chairman Karl Oyston, who Holloway claims is "the most pig-headed, stubborn bloke I have met in my life."
