Report: Bill Buckner to Manage Brockton Rox

About a dozen years ago, New Englanders would violently cringe when hearing the name Bill Buckner.

However, after the Red Sox' 2004 World Series title the region began to slowly forgive the first baseman for his 1986 World Series error. In 2008 — just months after the club's second title in five years — Bostonians even gave him a standing ovation as he tossed out the first pitch of the season during Opening Day pregame festivities at Fenway Park.

Now, the Greater Boston baseball community is welcoming him back as the manager of the Brockton Rox of the Can-Am League, according to owners Van Schley and Chris Carminucci, tweets Gordon Edes.

Former Red Sox players Rich Gedman (Worcester Tornadoes), Brian Daubach (Hagerstown) also serve as managers in the Can-Am League.
