After a long day with multiple changes to the roster, the Bruins still had a game to play against the Ottawa Senators, less than 24 hours after their road win against the Islanders. Needless to say, it wasn’t going to come easy.
The B’s and the Senators were scoreless through the first period before Ottawa forward Bobby Butler opened up the scoring early in the second. Boston battled back to tie things up just minutes later, as Brad Marchand netted his first goal of the night at the 6:47 mark of the middle stanza.
The Bruins carried that momentum into the third, scoring three more consecutive goals to take a 4-1 lead over the Sens. Marchand finished the night with two goals, and David Krejci finished with two assists.
Tomas Kaberle and Chris Kelly, the two new faces in black and gold, failed to crack the stat sheet, but it’s only a matter of time until they make their presence known on the B’s roster.
