Kevin Youkilis Wins First Annual Second Base Cup, Wants to Make an ‘Arnold Palmer’ in the Trophy

After two weeks of competition, Kevin Youkilis has been named the champion of the inaugural Second Base Cup.

The Red Sox’ third baseman held on to first place for more than a week, edging 14 teammates and manager Terry Francona in the first-ever chipping competition at City of Palms Park. Youk’s winning drive landed just over five feet away from second base.

During his celebratory interview, Youkilis mentioned that he rarely plays golf, and hadn’t golfed in two years — not even on Wii.

Youkilis hoisted the Second Base Cup over his head “like Lord Stanley,” and said he was going to make an Arnold Palmer, the legendary lemonade-iced tea mix, in the trophy.
