The freezing temperatures, ice and snow have caused safety concerns in Dallas all week in preparation for the Super Bowl, but on Friday, that danger reached a new level.

Seven people were injured, one critically, by falling ice at Cowboys Stadium, according to The Dallas Morning News.

NFL spokesman Brian McCarthy told the newspaper that there have been "several sliding snow falls onto the plaza" and that areas around the stadium have since been closed.

The report said that five of the seven injured people were taken to a hospital.
