To say the two points associated with the final regular season matchup against Montreal were important would be an understatement.

The Bruins had a lot to play for on Thursday night, and they came out with a vengeance — scoring three goals in the first period en route to a 7-0 blowout victory over the rivaled Canadiens. The win pushed the Bruins to a five-point lead atop the Northeast Division, pulling away from the Habs in second place.

The Bruins ignored all the bad blood and the negative vibes coming from Montreal and took their rivals head on with their explosive offense. Seven goals later, the deflated Habs left the TD Garden.

The win rejuvenated a Boston team that continued to roll on their high-scoring streak, outscoring New Jersey and Montreal 11-1 in their past two wins.

The win also brought back Lyndon Byers‘ famous black and yellow suit, and the former enforcer was definitely thrilled by the 7-0 rout.
