If there is one thing that the Bruins and the Canadiens can agree on, it's that the playoffs elevate their storied rivalry to the next level.

The B's kicked off their third postseason series in four years against their hated rivals on Thursday night in Boston, where the playoff energy was buzzing throughout TD Garden. Both locker rooms said they were feeling both excited and nervous before Thursday's game began, realizing the weight behind this historical matchup.

"We all know this is a great rivalry," Bruins assistant captain Mark Recchi said. "It's an exciting time for all the fans."

"All the implications are there," Habs' forward Mike Cammalleri said. "The Original Six, the rivalry … things of that nature just add more so to the soap opera of what it is — a playoff series."
