Dustin Pedroia won't be in the lineup on Tuesday night when the Red Sox search for their first win against the Indians this season. However, the second baseman is expected to be back in the lineup on Wednesday in the series finale.
Pedroia gave Red Sox fans a scare on Monday night when he tumbled over second base, appearing to reaggravate a surgically repaired left foot. However, it was just a "stinger" as Pedroia would later put it.
Terry Francona explained to Heidi Watney that Pedroia was due for a day off on Tuesday before the injury, so it made sense to stick to that plan. Pedroia is expected to return on Wednesday, though, as the injury was nothing more than a scare.
The Red Sox also received good news on starting pitcher John Lackey, who threw a side session in Cleveland on Tuesday.
