Stewart Downing may be switching Premier League teams very soon.
The Aston Villa midfielder, who is being pursued by Arsenal, prefers to join Liverpool, according to Sky Sports.
Aston Villa rejected Liverpool's initial offer of £15 million for Downing, while rival Arsenal tried to sneak in an offer of £18 million. Downing's desire to play at Anfield could not be denied, though, as the winger snubbed The Gunners.
He has two years remaining on his current contact.
Downing had seven goals and seven assists during the 2010-11 season for the Lions.
