While a lot of attention was given to the MLB trade deadline, Jon Lester put forth a solid outing that's worth some recognition.
Lester pitched eight innings and allowed only two runs on four hits while striking out eight. His only major mistakes were the two home runs he allowed to Paul Konerko and Gordon Beckham in the seventh and eighth inning, respectively.
After the game, Lester praised his offense and even admitted that it tends to spoil the pitching staff on occasion with its surplus of run support. The left-hander also credited Jarrod Satalamacchia for his excellent job behind the plate on Saturday night.
