Divisional Race May Be Decided by Which Injured Players Step Up for Red Sox, Yankees

Whether or not it matters to win the AL East this season remains up for discussion among fans, but one thing is clear: both the Red Sox and the Yankees need to get healthy if they expect to make deep playoff runs.

The Red Sox are expecting J.D. Drew and Kevin Youkilis back in action this week and are still holding out hope for Clay Buchholz to come up big for them. Meanwhile, Derek Jeter and Alex Rodriguez have been nicked up and out of the lineup recently for New York.

NESN Nation's Nate Hinchey has some thoughts on the race tightening up. And is he the only one that thinks it's a little weird that A-Rod is out with a thumb injury the same day that Madden is released?
