Jarrod Saltalamacchia Wins ‘Nobody Runs On The Salty’ Player of Game Award As Red Sox Fall To Yankees

Things got exciting in the bottom of the ninth on Friday night, but Mariano Rivera struck out the final two batters of the game and the New York Yankees claimed first place in the AL East.

Since we couldn't stomach giving our player of the game award to a member of the Evil Empire, NESN Nation is awarding its "Nobody Runs On The Salty" player of the game award to… Jarrod Saltalamacchia.

Salty threw out both Derek Jeter and Eduardo Nunez on attempted steals and, along with David Ortiz and his monster home run, was one of the few bright spots for the Sox on a night that saw the offense struggling for runs against Yanks starter Bartolo Colon.

Check out the video to see why NESN Nation's Nate Hinchey picked Salty and make sure to vote for your player of the game in the poll below.

Who is your "Nobody Runs On the Salty" player of the game?
