Matt Hunwick Takes On Evander Kane, Just Months Removed From Knocking Out Matt Cooke (Video)

Editor's note: Every day leading up to the start of the 2011-12 season, NESN.com will post one fight from the 2010-11 Bruins season. At the end of each week, fans can vote for what they thought was the best fight of the week, and after every fight has been posted, they can vote on which fight was the best of the year.

Evander Kane became a popular figure in Boston in April 2010, when he used two quick shots to knock Matt Cooke out cold.

So when Matt Hunwick, not known much for his pugilistic abilities, battled the bigger Kane, who has a reputation as a strong fighter, Bruins fans were a little nervous. Hunwick, in his second career fight, held his own rather well.

Kane took an early advantage, but when Hunwick regained advantage after his helmet came off, the Bruins defenseman landed a few blows with his right hand. Hunwick had Kane up against the glass and tried to take him down by grabbing on to his pants, but Kane broke free and the two landed a few more good punches before Kane lost his balance. Hunwick headed straight to the locker room afterward with a sweater completely torn at the shoulder.
