When Los Angeles Angels pitcher Dan Haren completed his eighth inning Thursday night, he walked back to the dugout showing little emotion. In Pittsburgh, Pirates pitcher James McDonald was celebrating for just getting through the seventh.
When McDonald got the Chicago Cubs' Tyler Colvin to fly out to end the top of the seventh inning, he reacted a bit differently than you might expect following a long outing. The right-hander opted for a quick Gatorade shower — compliments of himself.
In McDonald's defense, he allowed four runs on four hits, got through the seventh inning for the first time this season and had three RBIs on a bases-clearing double.
Unfortunately, he didn't earn the win, though, as the Cubs scored three runs in the top of the eighth en route to a victory.
