Clay Buchholz Continues to Progress in Rehab, Terry Francona Still Not Ruling Out His Return This Season

The Red Sox need pitching help right now, and they need it badly. While right-hander Clay Buchholz may not be an immediate answer, the Sox are hopeful that they may be able to add him to the playoff roster if and when Boston clinches a spot in the postseason.

NESN's Heidi Watney asked Manager Terry Francona about the latest progression for Buchholz on Friday in which he continud to stretch out his throwing, this time to 120 feet. Francona said that they are still not ruling out the chance that Buchholz could return this season, but he did stress one of the most important things is making sure that Buchholz feels good and strong about his back.

Francona also talked about the injuries to Kevin Youkilis and Erik Bedard, as both of them have headed back to Boston for further evaluation. The timing is far from ideal, but Francona did say that there isn't too much concern over either at this point.
